Do It Yourself Pet Toys
One of the biggest problems to be faced by a pet owner is the fact that pets tend to play around the house, considering every belonging to be a toy. While this definitely leaves behind pet odor around the house, chances of having to get rid of pet urine is also very high.
Owners need to provide their pets with toys so as to keep their belongings safe. Fortunately, such pet toys are quite easy to make, without the need of having to bear added expenses.
In this post, we will take a look at some great DIY toys that can be made quite cheaply.
Some great DIY pet toys
Here are some wonderful ideas for DIY pet toys which you can easily make at home using some common materials:
- Cloth rope toy
Dogs and other pets love to tug things around. In order to keep your curtains and sofas safe, you can easily make a cloth rope toy by tying together a bunch of old t shirts.
Make sure to tie your shirts well together so that your pet can have fun much longer in playing with this new toy.
- Bottle rattlers
Many pets love toys which make sounds. Making a toy rattler is quite simple. Fill in an old water bottle with bits of rocks and shells and cover it up with a rough cloth. You pet will certainly enjoy this bottle rattler.
As an alternative, you can also take an empty pill bottle and fill it with jingles. A smaller toy than the bottle rattler, even this works out great with pets.
- Cardboard scratcher toy
Cats need to scratch around. In order to avoid carpet cleaning and to keep your sofas safe, you can easily put together a cardboard scratcher toy. Make sure that the new toy appeals to your pet by applying some catnip on the scratcher.
- Hidden snack toys
As much as humans love treats, pets also love hidden treats. Use old tennis balls, empty toilet paper rolls, cloth bags and other material around the house and stuff them with your pet’s favorite snacks. They will spend hours playing around with their hidden snack toys.
Make sure to use items that are non-toxic and not too easy to be destructed when hiding your snack treats.
- The old ball in the sock toy
Probably the oldest known and easiest to make of DIY toys, all that you need is an old sock and a tennis ball. Wrap the ball around the sock and you can have hours of fun playing outside with this toy, a hit with all pets.
These are only few of the DIY projects that many pet owners have successfully created for their pets. These ingenious ideas have certainly been a hit with most pets and you can easily try making some of these on your own. However, you need not stop there – you can also get creative and go on to make some toys of your own.
